Moraira Beaches & (kids) activities

From intimate coves nestled beneath cliffs with clear, turquoise water, which provide the perfect location for snorkelling and swimming, to the white sandy beaches set amongst unspoilt natural surroundings which have all the amenities and perfect are for family holidays to the Costa Blanca. Playa l’Ampolla, El Portet, La Fustera & Platgetes are the most beautiful beaches for families because of the shallow water and good facilities.

Hop on the Moraira’s “Little Train” and enjoy a beautiful ride along the coastline. The Train runs from Portet Beach to the Andrago area and stops at different beaches and in town. You can choose to do the whole journey or hop on and off as you wish. The children’s ticket costs 3€ and the adult one 4€. The Train runs every day from 11:00 until 20:00 except Friday mornings (due to the market).

You’ll find the Moraira Fun Fair right at the end of the big car park in the centre. It opens in the afternoon until late in the evening. They have different attractions: bumper cars, small rollercoasters, trampolines etc. Make sure to buy your tokens at the entrance to use at the different attractions. Tokens can be redeemed over a couple of months so you could visit the fair multiple times.

We’d highly recommend they try paddle. This game, imported from South America, is hugely popular in Spain and is a mix between tennis and squash. The Cumbre Paddel Club has summer day passes and beginner courses. The club has a little bar where parents can sit back and enjoy a G&T while the kids play.

Friday morning’s market is a must if you are staying in Moraira with children. Most vendors are very friendly and will be more than happy to give you a taste of some of their products. You will be spoilt for choice: juicy fruit and vegs, delicious olives, colourful spices or intriguing gadgets. Don’t forget to visit the churros stand and make sure to ask for a side of warm chocolate to dip!

Last but not least on the list would be water sports. Moraira’s shallow waters and weak sea currents make a perfect playground for water sports enthusiasts. Sup, Canoe, Sailing Classes, Kayaking and more – it’s all there! In July and August, there is also an aquatic bouncy castle circuit on the Ampolla beach.

Valencia & Alicante

It only takes one hour drive to visit Valencia (or Alicante). Though it’s often overlooked in favour of Barcelona or Madrid, Valencia has plenty going for it. Located on Spain’s east coast, the 2,000-year-old city boasts wide sandy beaches, striking architecture, a buzzing food scene and culture, without the crowds found in other large Spanish cities. It’s the third-largest city in Spain, but the main attractions – including the cathedral, the Mercado Central and the Unesco-listed Lonja de la Seda – are walkable around the town centre.

Alicante has a vast list of attractions suitable for everyone, including the intriguing island of Tabarca located just off the coast. Alicante is famous for its magnificent palm tree flanked boulevards and shopping streets. The original name of the city “Lucentum” translates as “City of Light”. This attractive town along the Costa Blanca has stunning beaches, huge plazas, beautiful parks and lots of adventure as well as great weather. The city provides various activities, sightseeing tours, entertainment and great nightlife for tourists and locals alike, where they can hang around freely until the late hours.
